In 2025 I went on my first trek with my

We've been taking our three children on outdoor adventures since they were babies. When our oldest son outgrew the baby carrier, we realized we had a problem: Gus could only hike a mile or two on his own, putting many of our favorite destinations out of reach. There wasn't a baby carrier on the market for those "in-between years"โwhen little hikers are done with traditional porters but still need frequent rest stops along the way.
Trail Magik was born from our own family's needs, and we spent years hiking with our hand-sewn prototype. When enough friends begged us to make one for them, we realized our small idea could help more families than just our own. Fast forward to today: thousands of active families can continue their beloved adventures with Trail Magik.

What kind of backpack do I need for the Trail Magik? And can I use the Trail Magik on its own?
The Trail Magik Kid Carrier cannot be carried on its own. It's a top-loading carrier specifically designed to clip onto a hiking backpack of at least 30 liters, with a sturdy hip belt and load-lifter straps on the shoulder straps.
How do I position my child in the Trail Magik?
Important safety tips when using the Trail Magik Kid Carrier
1. Make sure your child sits properly in the Trail Magik, with their bottom supported and their knees higher than their bottom.
2. Make sure your child doesn't bend forward with their chin on or close to their chest. This position can restrict breathing, even when the nose and mouth are clear.
3. Check regularly that your child's face is uncovered, clearly visible and away from your body.
How can I tell if the sizes are right for my child?
Walk comfortably with the Trail Magik Kid Carrier
Follow the instructions and place your child in the carrier. Feel free to take a few photos while your child is in it and review them. This way, you can properly assess whether it feels comfortable for both you and your little adventurer.
Tips for extra comfort:
Wear the hip belt securely and higher on your waist, not loosely and low on the hips.
Loosen the load lifter straps on your backpack's shoulder straps to help keep the pressure from the Trail Magik off your shoulders.
From our own experience (after years of carrying our three children with the Trail Magik), we recommend a 30-liter backpack with an internal frame โ this gives the pack extra strength and ensures optimal carrying comfort.
